FULL-COLOR PRINTING

Full-color printing uses tiny dots of four colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) in different combinations to create millions of color possibilities. Full-color is used to print color photos and can be a less expensive alternative to printing several spot colors, especially for short runs.
Colors may shift a small amount between printings, so an exact color match is not guaranteed.

SCREENS/TINTS

For each printing plate, the color for that plate is printed at 0-100%. Less than 100% of a color is composed of tiny dots called a screen or tint. For example, black prints black at 100% and gray at 50%.

BLEED

When color is printed right up to the edge of the paper, this is called bleed. The item is printed on a larger sheet and then cut down to size. Envelopes that bleed are printed on flat sheets, then they are die-cut and converted.
